AVID Program Overview
The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an elective class during the school day designed for students with a strong desire to pursue a 2-year or 4-year college education but who may want additional time and support to think about their future and find success. While AVID’s primary mission is to equip students for college success, the skills developed in AVID also prepare students for various postsecondary paths, ensuring they have the ability to thrive in any direction they choose.
AVID’s vision is for students to overcome obstacles and achieve success, regardless of their life circumstances. Its mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness in a global society. To view the AVID Framework & Standards by grade level, please click here.
