Identification Overview
Cherry Creek Schools defines advanced learners as children possessing outstanding talent and performing, or demonstrating the potential to perform, at remarkably high levels of achievement when compared with their peers, experience and/or environment. Such students require services beyond the rich and varied services provided in the general education classroom. Outstanding talents are present in all cultural groups, across all socio-economic strata and in all arenas of human endeavor.
Appeals
An appeals process may be initiated by notifying the Advanced Academics teacher at the building in writing. The appellant will meet with the school principal and the Advanced Academics teacher to review data. New information may be introduced to clarify inaccuracies, review decisions and decide a future course of action. If the applicant is not satisfied with the decision reached at this meeting, a written appeal may be made to the Director of Advanced Academics & Gifted Services to review the decision.
