  • The Cherry Creek School District is committed to honoring our heroes, the active service members and veterans who've sacrificed to ensure our freedom, our happiness and our safety. Our schools have put together breakfasts, parades, concerts and more -- see the list below to find a school near you! Please note that some schools require an RSVP.


    All Schools

    • Nov. 11-15
    • Lunch periods at all schools.
    • All veterans are welcome to join us for a lunch meal at no cost in any school cafeteria across the district hosted by the CCSD Food and Nutrition Services.

    Elementary Schools

    Altitude Elementary

    • Nov. 14
    • 1:30 p.m.
    • Altitude Elementary is proud to hold its annual Veterans Day Parade, featuring all Altitude students, clubs and activities from Fox Ridge Middle School and Cherokee Trail High School, units from Buckley Space Force Base, the Aurora Police and Fire departments, classic cars, horses, floats, and other surprises! The half-mile route goes through the Southshore community, specifically E. Southshore Dr where the main viewing gallery is located. A hospitality room is also available for veterans, active duty, and first responders to show our appreciation for their sacrifices.

    Antelope Ridge Elementary

    • Antelope Ridge students and staff will honor America's heroes with a Veterans Day breakfast in their honor, followed by a patriotic parade through the school to thank veterans, military members, and their families for their service and sacrifice!

    Arrowhead Elementary

    • 2:00 p.m.
    • Arrowhead will honor those who served with a reception and a patriotic performance by our choir.  After the reception, honored guests are invited to join a Hero's Parade through the school so our students and staff can cheer and thank them for their service.

    Aspen Crossing Elementary

    • Nov. 14
    • 8:30 a.m.
    • In the morning, Aspen Crossing students will talk with and learn from a variety of current and former military personnel. In the afternoon, all students and staff will participate in a patriotic parade from Aspen Crossing to Sky Vista Middle School. Following the parade, 3rd-5th grade students and teachers will stay at Sky Vista for an assembly and musical performance.

    Belleview Elementary

    • Nov. 14
    • 8:30 a.m.
    • Veterans, military members, and their families will be honored during a patriotic assembly featuring student musical performances and essay readings, followed by a Heroes Reception in the Library.

    Buffalo Trail Elementary

    • Nov. 14
    • 8:30 a.m.
    • Our local heroes are invited for breakfast and a performance by the Buffalo Trail Choir, followed by a Celebration Walk in their honor. Then our special guests are invited to join students for a craft project.

    Canyon Creek Elementary

    • Nov. 7
    • 7:30 a.m. breakfast; 8:30 a.m. assembly
    • Veterans are welcome to join us for a small breakfast gathering starting at 7:30 a.m., Veterans assembly will begin at 8:30 with songs from the choir etc.

    Challenge School

    • 8:15 a.m. 
    • The Challenge School will honor veterans, military members, and their families during a Veterans Day breakfast and celebration featuring an opening ceremony by Challenge Girl Scouts and student performances of patriotic songs, stories, and poems. Honorees will be featured in a special slide show displaying submitted photos and details of their service. They will also be cheered and honored by all Challenge students in our ceremonial "howl line."

    Cherry Hills Village Elementary

    • Cherry Hill Village Elementary will honor veterans, military members, and their families with a Veterans Day breakfast, followed by a performance by second grade students and a patriotic Heroes Parade.

    • 1:00 p.m.
    • Cimarron Elementary will honor our nation's heroes with a video of a patriotic performance by 3rd and 5th grade students. Then, our special guests will be treated to a parade showcasing each branch of the military through in-class projects. Refreshments will be served.

    Cottonwood Creek Elementary

    Coyote Hills Elementary

    • Coyote Hills will honor veterans, military members, and their families with a patriotic program featuring a Girl Scout flag ceremony, musical performances by each grade level, and a moment of silence to honor fallen heroes. Honored guests are then invited to a coffee and cookies reception in the library, followed by the chance to visit their student's classroom and share stories about their military experience. Guests can also view our Wall of Honor and student artwork inspired by their service and sacrifice.

    Creekside Elementary

    • Creekside Elementary looks forward to honoring our heroes during our Veterans Week open house. Veterans, current military members, and their families can tour our “Heroes Hallway,” visit classrooms, and participate in a “Heroes Tribute.”

    • America's heroes will be treated to a Veterans Day breakfast in the library, followed by an all-school assembly featuring the Dry Creek Choir and a performance or project by each grade level.

    • Fox Hollow is proud to host veterans, military members, and their families to a breakfast in the library, followed by a patriotic parade and assembly in the gym. It will feature a choir performance, parent guest singer, and student speakers.

    Greenwood Elementary

    • Greenwood Elementary students will be honoring veterans, military members, and their families during two assemblies featuring patriotic music and projects celebrating America's heroes.

    Holly Ridge Primary and Holly Hills Elementary

    • Nov. 14
    • 8:20 a.m. parade, 8:45 a.m. assembly
    • The Hollys - Holly Ridge Primary and Holly Hills Elementary - will honor veterans, military members, and their families with a parade from Holly Ridge to Holly Hills, followed by a patriotic celebration at Holly Hills. The Hollys are partnering with American Legion Post #1, which will start the assembly with the presentation of the colors and pledge of allegiance. In addition, our fifth grade spirit team will perform and our fourth grade students will sing. Honored guests are also invited to spend the day and visit classrooms.

    • Homestead Elementary is proud to host veterans, military members, and their families to a welcome reception and breakfast, followed by an all-school assembly recognizing our honored guests.

    Independence Elementary

    • We will celebrate veterans, military members, and their families with a parade through our school. Next, honored guests can visit classrooms to meet with students. Then there will be a reception featuring a performance by the Indepenence Choir.

    Indian Ridge Elementary

    • 1:30 p.m.
    • Indian Ridge families have helped us create a "Hero Wall" featuring family members and friends who have or are serving in the military. Honored guests can view the wall before a patriotic celebration with musical performances and personal messages. Our event will conclude with a reception and the announcement of the donations we have raised to purchase a brick of honor for the Colorado Freedom Memorial.

    Peakview Elementary

    • America's heroes and their families are cordially invited to a special assembly featuring our fifth-graders singing some of the songs they performed at the CCSD Veterans and Military Appreciation event in October. Following this performance, we will host our third Quilts of Valor ceremony. Our students will sing an Armed Forces medley. Finally, our honored guests will be celebrated with a patriotic parade.

    • Our veterans, military members, and their families will be treated to donuts while the Mountain Vista choir members share their gratitude through a musical performance. Then our special guests will participate in a "Walk of Honor" as a celebration from the entire MVE community.

    Polton Elementary

    • 9:30 a.m.
    • Polton students will post poppies and flags outside the school to welcome local veterans, military members and their families, to a reception and assembly in their honor.  During the assembly, Polton will honor each branch of the military, students will speak, and they will also perform a patriotic song. After the assembly, honored guests are invited to visit our classrooms.

    Ponderosa Elementary

    • Ponderosa will welcome honored guests with flags from each branch of the military. Student Council members will serve them a Veterans Day breakfast and lead them on a tour through the school's Veterans Appreciation hallway, decorated by students to show their gratitude and patriotism. Interested veterans will visit classrooms to speak with students, and 5th grade students will give our special guests a patriotic send-off.

    Campus Middle School

    Cherry Creek Innovation Campus

    • Veterans and military members who are family and friends of CCIC students are invited to the 5th annual Veterans Day Celebration. It starts with a light breakfast, a short program, and then tours of our state-of-the-art career and college prep facility, led by CCIC Hospitality and Apprenticeship students.

    Eaglecrest High School

    • EHS Positive Impact student leaders will host a breakfast for veterans, military members, and their families. It features a choir performance and an amazing breakfast, much of which is donated by local businesses. Students, staff, and honored guests will have the opportunity to connect and learn about each other. National Art Society members decorate the Performing Arts window to honor each branch of the military, and flags will line Picadilly Street and Raptor Way to honor those who have served or are serving our country. Finally, the whole school  writing letters to service members explaining how much the EHS community appreciates them!

    Endeavor Academy

    • Endeavor students and staff team up to honor veterans, military members, and their families. The school grounds will be decorated with American flags, the school will host a Veterans Day breakfast, and students will sign posters for those who have served or are serving our nation.

    Overland High School

    • Overland High School will honor our nation's heroes during a special Veterans Day celebration. It features a pancake breakfast reception, live music from the OHS Jazz Band, a presentation by the Mile-High Color Guard, and keynote remarks from retired Air Force veteran Robert Plick.

    Smoky Hill High School

    • Smoky Hill High School will honor our community veterans and military members, including those on the school staff, during a Veterans Day breakfast served by our Unified Cafe.

    Fremont Learning Center

    • Nov. 14
    • 8:30 a.m.
    • The CCSD schools and programs located at the Fremont Learning Center will partner to host a Veterans Day breakfast for veteran employees, support staff, student families, and active military members. In addition, Elevation and Link students are writing cards for veterans and the Elevation Honor Society, in partnership with the other programs, is leading a coat drive during the month of November to benefit veterans.

    • Cherry Creek Link (a short-term, blended learning environment for 6-12 students to build skills needed to reengage with their home school)
