New CDE Licensure Requirements
For professionally licensed educators (elementary, English, math, science and/or social studies): Beginning September 1, 2018, if you are a professionally licensed teacher with an elementary, English language arts, mathematics, science or social studies endorsement, you will be required to document 45 clock hours of applicable professional development in culturally and linguistically diverse education training in your next full renewal cycle (a designation will be added to your certificate to indicate whether you have met the requirement or still need to do so).

CDE In-field Requirements (previously called "NCLB" and "HQ")
The Cherry Creek School District requires all teachers to be "in-field".
How is an in-field teacher defined in Colorado?
Per the Colorado Department of Education, a teacher must hold at least one of the following in the subject area in which they have been assigned to teach in order to be considered in-field:- Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license
- Degree (B.A. or higher)
- 36 semester credit hours
- Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series)

36 Credit Hour Requirement
The Cherry Creek School District strictly adheres to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) 36 credit hour requirements. This means we follow the 24 credit hour endorsement worksheets provided by CDE as well as the additional 12 credit hours as determined by the District.

CDE Out-of-State Requirements

Induction Program
Participation in an Induction Program is required by the Colorado Department of Education for all Administrators, Teachers and Special Service Providers to move from a Provisional License to a Professional License. Induction Programs are coursework-based and are differentiated based on years of experience and position.
