What is the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus?

The Cherry Creek Innovation Campus (CCIC) is a stand-alone college and career preparedness facility accessible for high school students in the Cherry Creek School District. Courses at the CCIC will align with the industry standards for seven in-demand and growing career Pathways: Advanced Manufacturing, Business Services, Health & Wellness, Hospitality & Tourism, Infrastructure Engineering (Building Trades), IT & STEAM, and Transportation (Automotive & Aviation).

Is CCIC a high school? 

The Cherry Creek Innovation Campus is not a "comprehensive" home high school, but is a "program" students attend part time, while continuing to take classes at their home high school.

Is there an application process to take classes at CCIC?

Yes. The application process coincides with the registration window at home high schools and is open from mid-January to early March. The application can be found by visiting the Registration Page on the CCIC website or by contacting the Counseling Department at 720-554-2600.

What are the requirements to attend the CCIC?

The CCIC is available to high school students in the Cherry Creek School District. While most classes are designed for 11th and 12th grade students, each course or certification may have specific requirements regarding age, grade level, and/or prerequisite courses. These specific requirements can be found in the Course Catalog. Some introductory course are also available to 10th grade students. When selecting CCIC courses, it is important that students review their MyCAP profiles with their school counselors to ensure current graduation requirements are being met.

What if a CCIC course is also being taught at my home school?

Some high schools offer courses which may also be offered at the CCIC. Students attending schools with these duplicate offerings should take the course(s) at their home high school.

How do the credits earned at CCIC work with my graduation plan?

Semester classes at the CCIC generally earn .5 credit of elective and .5 of English, math, or science credit and some earn 1.0 elective credit. Most year-long courses earn 1.0 credit of elective and 1.0 credit of English, math, or science. These credits transfer directly to all of the Cherry Creek home high schools and are counted in the CCSD graduation requirement of 22.0 credits.

How many days a week do I attend the CCIC and for how long?

Like most of the home high schools, CCIC is on an alternating block schedule with A days and B days. So depending on which day you have class at CCIC, you will be in the building either 2 or 3 times a week. The classes are equivalent to two block classes, so they are all 2 hrs and 45 minutes in length. Classes can be semester or year-long and follow the CCSD calendar in terms of holidays, breaks, and start/end dates.

Does it cost money to attend the CCIC?

There is no charge for actually attending the CCIC, however, the courses offered do have some associated fees. Depending on the course, the fees and other associated expenses address the costs of supplies, materials, certifications, college credit tuition, and uniforms. Course fees range from $25-$200. Scholarships are available for students in need of financial assistance. 

Which pathways offer certifications?

Certifications are offered in every pathway at the CCIC. 

Can I do more than one pathway at the CCIC?

It is possible to participate in more than one pathway. Determining whether it is appropriate or not will depend on your career goals, your academic progress towards graduation, and seating availability in the classes. We suggest you meet with your counselor to create a strong academic plan with your specific career goals in mind prior to applying for two pathways. 

Can I switch pathways?

Yes!  Sometimes it can be just as valuable to learn what careers you are NOT interested in as it is to learn about careers you are interested in.  If you take a pathway and decide it’s not the right fit for you, we will work with you and your home high school counselor to make a change in your schedule.  Typically these changes will happen either at the beginning of the school year or at the semester break.  

Will you be adding more pathways or classes in the future?

Yes.  Currently we are looking to expand our Health and Wellness pathway, as well as add new pathways that correspond with opportunities in industrial and economic growth areas in Colorado. 

Do you have counselors? How are they different from counselors at my home high school?

Yes.  The CCIC has two counselors on campus that work in partnership with the counselors at your home high school.  CCIC counselors can help you with your academic progress, your post-graduate planning, as well as help support your emotional well-being while you are in school.  Please visit the CCIC Counseling website for more information. 

Is transportation provided? Can I park on campus?

Yes, buses will transport CCSD students to and from their home high schools.  Bus Schedule

Students who have a valid driver's license may also drive themselves to the CCIC and park in the student lot. Students are required to register their vehicle with security at CCIC to park on campus. The CCIC does not charge students to park their vehicles.

What does the CCIC class schedule look like?

There will be four sessions available at the CCIC, two morning and two afternoon sessions on alternating (A or B) days. Most students will enroll in one session at the CCIC and attend their home schools for the remainder of their classes. Home high school counselors will work with students and families to ensure that the schedules align with ICAPs and graduation requirements.  Bell Schedule

Is there security on campus?

The CCIC has a School Resource Officer (SRO) and security personnel on campus. All visitors to the campus will be required to check in and present identification at the security checkpoint. 

Are there accommodations for students with disabilities?

Students with active Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 plans may apply for classes at the CCIC. The CCIC is an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant building. The building contains handicap accessible doors, parking, bathrooms, and elevators. For specific questions, please contact the CCIC's ADA Coordinator, Alex Sabin.

How do I contact faculty and staff at the CCIC?

What if a student is absent or is running late?

If a student is going to be absent from a course meeting at the CCIC, then the student's parent or guardian must contact the CCIC to let us know. The CCIC Attendance line telephone number is 720-554-2695. Please note that if your student is going to be absent all day (from their CCIC course and from their home high school) you must also notify the student's home high school of the absence. The CCIC will only report that the student is absent from their CCIC course. If a student is running late, they must stop and check in at the reception desk to receive a tardy pass before heading to class. 

What happens on days of inclement weather or school closures? 

The CCIC follows all recommendations and closure rules of the Cherry Creek School District No. 5. If the district cancels school for inclement weather, then the CCIC shall also be closed and or delayed. Please be sure to check local news stations and well as the district's website for announcements on school closures and delays.
