    If you or your child is having a mental health emergency, please call the Colorado Crisis Line at 1-844-493-8255 or dial 911.

    If you have safety concerns about others, please contact Safe2Tell at 877-542-7233 or contact your local police department.

     

    Remote School Counseling Considerations

    We are here to support our students and community members during this challenging time. Online platforms provide many benefits including flexibility, efficiency and unique collaboration opportunities. However, there are some limitations involved that are described below:

    • Confidentiality & Privacy cannot be guaranteed with services provided through online platforms (ex: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Voice, etc.).
      • In the event that a student, parent and/or school counselor believes that the virtual meeting is not private or other participants not anticipated are observed, the meeting will be rescheduled for another time.
    • Technical Issues may arise.
      • In the event of technological failure during a meeting, the school counselor will make attempts to reconnect for ten minutes. If the internet or technological failure cannot be resolved, the school counselor will call you back via the telephone.  
      • If the technological failure interferes with the goals of the meeting being achieved, another meeting will be scheduled at a mutually convenient date and time.

      • Parent Information Network (P.I.N.): PIN’s mission is to provide informative local and national speakers on topics relevant to current parenting and youth-related issues and to provide a forum for parents to connect and create a caring community. 
      • CCSD Mental Health Resources Page: Provides various resources including how to talk with your child and help them cope with difficult situations, tips for talking with your teen, and how to know if your child needs more support socially, emotionally and/or behaviorally. 
      • CCSD Suicide Prevention Page: Identifies suicide risk factors, suicide warning signs, and resiliency factors as well as what to do if you are concerned about your child.
