    Aurora and Arapahoe County house a multitude of extra curricular resources for students, parents, and families that attend the Cherry Creek School District, or live within its boundaries. Within this document, you will find the most up-to-date knowledge regarding resources housed within our community to best assist families and students in accessing support in the Denver/Aurora Metro Area.

    This guide contains information regarding resources related to: Employment, Mental Health, Extra Curriculars, Respite Care/After School Care, Parenting, Immigration/Citizenship Information, Housing/Section 8, and Academics/Tutoring.

      • Angels of Colorado has provided short-term and long-term respite care to families of children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. We offer a wide variety of different services and programs to fit your needs. Angels of Colorado serves all of the Denver Metro area and continues to grow in the effort of bringing more programs, services, and support families and their loved ones.

      • Arapahoe/Douglas Works! Workforce Center is a member of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s statewide network of workforce centers, which provide a variety of no-cost services to job seekers and businesses. Arapahoe/Douglas Works! serves as a critical resource to connect people and businesses in Arapahoe and Douglas Counties, and throughout the Denver/Aurora metropolitan region. The workforce center offers an array of tools to support local job-seekers, including offering resources and workshops for a self-directed job search, one-on-one employment counseling, and training assistance. We utilize Connecting Colorado, an online database of statewide job openings and registered job-seekers, to facilitate the match between skilled workers and businesses.

      • Art from Ashes exists to empower struggling youth by providing creative programs that facilitate health and hope through expression, connection, and transformation. Art from Ashes (AfA) uses a nationally-recognized, award-winning curriculum designed to facilitate creative transformation through the power of artistic expression. AfA is the first youth arts agency in Colorado to use a process of creative expression to facilitate personal resiliency and self-determination among high-risk youth age 9 to 24 years old.

      • Aurora Community Connection offers 20+ programs and services designed to celebrate families’ strengths and respond to community needs, including but not limited to insurance support, adult education, after school tutoring, health programming, and resources and referrals.

      • The YMCA operates out of multiple locations in the Aurora area. We provide programing at various HOAs, schools, and at the Southlands Shopping Center. Programs include sports, kids night out, before & after school care, fitness classes and youth programs.

      • Aurora Mental Health Center is committed to creating healthy and secure communities by providing the least restrictive service that ensures quality, appropriate, and efficient care.

      • Today, six library branches, two computer centers in recreation centers provided in collaboration with the Parks, Recreation and Open Space department and one Smart Locker serve Aurora's more than 330,000 residents, providing access not only to hard-copy books and periodicals, but the Internet, online databases, job resources, homework assistance, DVDs, CDs, plus online books and media.

      • To provide education, awareness and support that empowers parents, promotes resiliency and positively impacts the social-emotional development of our children. All CCSD Parent Academy classes are facilitated by trained mental health and counseling professionals from Cherry Creek Schools and are designed to pro­vide parents with a range of proven-effec­tive approaches in a supportive environ­ment.       • 24/7 mental health assessments; walk-ins welcome. The facility is open for admission 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Confidential level of care assessments are provided at no charge. Walk-ins are welcome, however scheduled appointments are preferred.

      • AHA is committed to providing safe, decent, affordable housing to our community and proudly serves many different groups including: Working families, single parents, disabled residents, seniors, homeless community members, and veterans. AHA owns and manages more than 680 rental units, composed of low income and income restricted units, section 8 units, and rental units. AHA currently administers 1,197 HUD Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers (including 75 VASH and 50 FUP) and an average of 357 portable vouchers with an annual value to the community of over $15.2 million. This program allows renters to bridge the gap between normal rent and their ability to pay.

      • Safe Families for Children is a movement fueled by compassion to keep children safe and families intact. Through Host Families, Family Friends, and Family Coaches, we temporarily host children and provide a network of support to families in crisis while they get back on their feet.

      • The city of Aurora Youth Sports office provides quality youth sports camps and leagues for ages 3 to 18. Recreational leagues prepare kids with the fundamentals of each sport and teach good sportsmanship and teamwork.
