Six CCIC Automotive Students Qualify for SkillsUSA State Contest
Congratulations to the following six CCIC Automotive students who qualified for our SkillsUSA State contest! This was a virtual contest, and now these six students will compete at the State level virtually the week of March 22nd.
High School (Automotive Service Technology):
Paul Felix - CCIC/CCHS
Evan Macmillan - CCIC/CTHS
Luke Mortensen - CCIC, CTHS
High School (Maintenance & Light Repair):
Andrew Stice - CCIC/Elevation
Cole Timmons - CCIC/CCHS
Kyle Gosselink - CCIC/GHS
Students were challenged with diagnosing Engine Performance scenarios (no start) and Electrical failures (headlamps inoperative), along with having to build series and parallel electrical circuits and testing voltage, current and resistance values. Students were tested in all areas of Automotive Technology including Engine Repair & Performance; Electrical and Electronic Systems; Brakes; Suspension, Steering & Alignment; Transmissions; Heating & AC Systems; Safety; Precision Measurement. Scores were calculated as follows: 70 points for written test, 25 points for the virtual trainers, and 5 points for resume; 100 points total.
