T-Bird Weekly Message

WEEKLY MESSAGE: May 24, 2021

Dear T-Bird Families,

Well this is officially our last Monday of the 20-21 school year! This has hands down been one of the most challenging years of my educational career. I do not recall a year ever where we have literally changed the schedule 4 times within the same year. Through it all, you have inspired me in all that you have accomplished! Enjoy your summer and see you back here in August!

Permission Slip for Thursday Fun Day

If your child will be participating in our fun day activities this Thursday, we will need a signed permission slip for the outdoor activities (including the “inflatables” obstacle course).  Your child should be bringing a hard copy home tonight, and we need to have it signed and returned as soon as possible. Below is a link to an electronic copy for your convenience. You can either send it in with your student or email it to your child’s T-Bird teacher.

Save the Date - 8th Grade Send Off

We will be celebrating our eighth grade students with an event on the evening of May 21st from 5:00-7:00pm. This is a semi-formal, outdoor event in lieu of our typical 8th grade dance.

Student Computer Collection

We will be collecting all district computers from students who borrowed them before the end of this school year. Any student who no longer needs a district computer at home can return it (with the power cord) to their T-Bird teacher. We would love to be able to use these computers in classrooms again. For students who still need the computers for homework for the remainder of the year, we ask that they are returned no later than May 21st.

TRMS Students Shine in the National Spotlight

To show how amazing our kids are, our 8th graders apply genetics to a problem in the International Space Station. The students use the same advanced tools such as PCR, Micropipettes, and gel electrophoresis that the astronauts use in the ISS.  Our school received both the Constellation award as well as a Junior Scientist Award. Our students worked hard this last year designing labs using these tools to solve problems in space. Four of our student's proposals were the top 5 in the country at the middle school level.
