Spring Testing 2025
-
Dear Raptor Families,
We want to inform you about your child’s upcoming SAT/PSAT and CMAS testing schedule. The SAT/PSAT tests are for all grades 9-11 students and measure student's academic abilities in literacy skills and mathematics. The tests help monitor your student’s growth. The CMAS science test (Colorado Measures of Academic Success), is for all 11th graders.CMAS and SAT/PSAT are the only common assessments for Colorado students that measure real-world skills like problem-solving and critical thinking. Because the assessments are aligned to the college and career readiness standards taught in our classrooms, teachers do not have to “teach to the test.” Instead, good instruction based on the standards will best prepare students.
In the Cherry Creek School District, results from the state assessments are combined with local assessments and other student information to create a complete picture of your student’s learning experience in our schools. This helps parents and educators answer essential questions such as:
- Did your student meet the expectations at their grade level to be on track for the next level of learning?
- Does your student need additional services and/or support?
- How well did your student perform compared to other students across the state?
- How well did your school do overall in meeting performance and growth goals throughout the year?
- Did your student meet the expectations at their grade level to be on track for the next level of learning?
This SAT/PSAT testing will take place digitally. Students are encouraged to use their school-issued device. Devices require set-up before testing and district devices will have the appropriate applications pushed to them. Students are required to complete a Digital Readiness Check before testing. This will take place in English classes on April 1st – April 4th. It is imperative your child brings their school-issued device on April 1st – 4th to complete the Digital Readiness Check. Absent students will be pulled from class in the days after to complete the check.
The school does not have computers to loan out for testing.

There are no academic classes on April 16th or April 17th, and twelfth-grade students should not attend either day. District buses will run each morning before school and after testing at 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
We would like to remind you that it is essential for your child to arrive at school on time on the testing days. They should also bring a student ID. It is recommended that they get a good night's sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast on the day of the test to ensure they are mentally prepared.
While state testing provides valuable information about your student’s academic achievement and growth, Colorado statute does allow parents to exempt their students from testing without consequences to the student, school, or district. If you plan to exempt your student from state testing, please login to your my.cherrycreekschools.org parent portal and click on the “State Assessment Exemption” tile.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us prepare your child for the future.
