Principal's Message

  • Picture of Edie Alvarez Dear Laredo Families-

Welcome to Laredo Middle School, home of the Laredo Lions. I am excited to be principal of this incredible school. As I enter my 26th year in Cherry Creek School District and my 13th year in administration, I look forward to meeting each of you and beginning a new school year.

Through the hard work and dedication of our staff and the support of our parent community, we strive at Laredo to provide our students with an education that is “Globally Sound, College and Career Bound”. We encourage our students to make connections between what they learn in school with the real world. Due to the support of the voters in our community, we will be opening an Innovation Center for the 2019-2020 School Year. Several of our teachers and administrators spent their time this summer training in Project Based Learning in order to bring real-world connections and problem-solving to our students. Laredo is proud to be an AVID School-wide Site of Distinction. Our AVID program helps our students become college and career ready by providing them with academic tools such as writing to learn, inquiry, collaboration, organizational skills, and critical reading.

In addition to focusing on our students’ academic needs, we focus on the social-emotional well-being of our students through PRIDE by expecting all members of our community to be Principled, Respectful, Inclusive, Determined, and Empathetic. We focus on positive behaviors and hope all of our students are a “part of the PRIDE”.

I look forward to the collaborative partnership between students, staff, parents, and the community in order to support our objective of providing students with the best experience they can have during these middle school years. Whether you are a returning member or a new member of our Laredo Family, I welcome you and we cannot wait to continue to celebrate your student’s successes.
